Spring 2010 Shoe Trends

January has got to be one of the toughest times of the year in London. Christmas is over, the lights are coming down, and you’ve gone from wearing your winter boots in to feeling as run down as they look. It’s cold, freezing cold, you have a strong will to hole up and hibernate until April comes round, and you have the heart wrenching challenge of trying to lose the Bentley Belt you acquired over the festive season.

Just when you think all hope is gone however, we know something that will bring a ray of sunshine into your wintery life, a much needed spark of colourful happiness that will have you daydreaming about long, lazy afternoons in the park or wiggling your toes in a sandy beach paradise somewhere off the coast of Mexico. Spring shoe trends are bold, colourful, cheerful and definitely enough to get you motivated for the warmer days that are not actually that far off.

This spring, you can expect shoes and heels to dazzle and wow, to inspire and motivate. Think flirty, think feminine but with a twist of floral funk that will leave you refreshed and delighted. Here are a few trends to look for this spring, so make sure that you start keeping your eyes peeled in order to be on top form the second the sun peeps over the horizon.

Floral Yourself Pretty

Anything floral this spring is going to be a biggie. From clothing prints, to accessories to shoes, floral prints, flower additions to shoes and accessories and floral designs are going to be colourfully celebrating spring this year. Some designers seem to have embraced it more than others, but the bottom line is that pretty, feminine flowers in a fresh and colourful spectrum of colours are going to be all over shoes this spring. From floral heels, floral buckles, floral printed leather to vine like calf straps and massive, slightly over the top flower accessories. This is one time you don’t have to wait for your guy to spoil you with flowers…

Bright and Bold

Pastels are out, bright and bold are in. The brighter and more colourful the better. The big shoe colour trends set to take over this spring are orange and pink. From dusty pink and orange to bright fuchsia and juicy orange – radiant, shocking coloured heels and pumps must find their way into your wardrobe. Perfect to inject some much needed colour into the deary monotones of typical London winter wear, maybe lighten up an office, or give you some bold confidence when you hit the dance floor.

When in Rome

The Gladiator is set to make a come back too, well not really a come back, more like a re-appearance. Last year the knee high Gladiator sandals were a must have, and London literally had its own small Roman Empire tearing up and down the high street. Look out for the same style sandal this spring, just in bolder, brighter colours. Ankle high Gladiators are going to be favoured above the knee high, so don’t think that last years pair is going to cut it and make sure you get yourself an electric pink pair instead!

But I Love My Boot Shoes

You and me both, which is why we have to get down on our knees and thank those blessed shoe designers and trend setters out there for adapting them so that we can wear them all year long. Peep toe Boot Shoes… who would have thought. Perfectly designed to give you a sophisticated, yet airy look for spring.

Heels, Heels, Heels

Its all about the heel, well isn’t it always. The stiletto will always be around, but look out for fabulous and funky heels of all shapes and textures. Platforms, cone shaped and tapered heels, gimmick heels and brightly coloured or patterned heels are going to be the hot look this spring. Don’t be caught in a pair of plain Janes and rather make a statement with something outlandish and eccentric. Everyone else will be!
